Over
the past few years, social networking as evolved from a mom and pop into a super corporation.
At first it was mainly used by teens and college students, but now you can find
almost anyone online. One of its biggest new users at this point of time is business
owners. Chuck Hamilton, from IBM’s 3D
Internet Division, state that the “Virtual social technologies reduce the cost
of doing business. You can pull together an innovation very, very quickly by
leveraging thoughts and expertise from around the world.” By using virtual social
network business ours can advertise, market, sell, and even get raw feedback
from their direct customers by from chats room. Claire Miller believes that” it’s
a tool for businesses to reach
customers
and monitor what their customers are saying about them” (NY Times). When we think of online, the possibilities
are endless. In the future, more and more companies are going to build virtual
worlds and charge users money to use their virtual businesses and products.
On
the other hand, online competition can be unfair or unethical. In Claire chain
Miller, NY Times article she enlighten how Facebook tried to acquire Twitter, after
it didn’t work out , they have been gradually introducing structures that mimic
Twitter. To me this is unfair because twitter is in a different field than Facebook.
Facebook is just trying to take over their market, by impersonating twitter. If
Facebook want to compete be different.
